If you’re even remotely interested in sea shells, do yourself a favor and book a trip with Florida Adventures. My friends and I joined Capt. Colleen for opening day at the Cape Romano shoal, and it was hands-down one of the most enjoyable excursions I’ve ever been on.Capt. Colleen is an absolute gem — a master captain and true master naturalist who clearly lives and breathes this ecosystem. She wasn’t just driving the boat and pointing out dolphins; she and her 1st mate Dylan (who is a marine mammal specialist) taught us the whole time, explaining the biology, tides, and history of the area in a way that was engaging even for experienced nature nerds. Dylan also helped us solve the mystery over who smarter, a dolphin or an octopus? Diplomatic answer- they are both equally as smart in their own way. Colleen & Dylan’s enthusiasm was contagious, and they made the day feel like an adventure with knowledgeable friends rather than a typical tour.Opening day at Cape Romano shoal marks the start of the SWFL shelling season and sometimes referred to as the “Black Friday” of shelling. But it’s such a fun way to kick the shelling season off and the boatloads of shellers attending were way nicer than any Black Friday shoppers. Capt. Colleen knew exactly where to point us for the best shell piles, and we came home with some nice specimens and a much deeper appreciation for the coastal ecosystem.If you’re looking for a shelling eco-tour that’s fun, educational, and led by people who genuinely care about the environment, book with Florida Adventures and ask for Capt. Captain Alex did a great job creating a relaxing boat ride to Keewaydin Island. Very accommodating setting up chairs and umbrella along with snacks and drinks. Will definitely use again next time we are in town.

Captain Tom was so friendly and nice. I had to make several calls before the trip and the customer service was very good! I would go back and do another tour as they accommodate and go with the flow as to what your family wants to do! My son was even able to do some fishing and the sunset pictures we got were spectacular.

Our captain, Stan, was ready with the shuttle when we arrived. He pointed out a manatee and then slowed each time we saw a dolphin so we could get a good look. Once we got to Keewaydin, he set up chairs and an umbrella for us. My son and I just hung out, got in the water to cool off and walked to the other side picking up some shells along the way. It was very relaxing. You really don't need to bring anything but yourself and enjoy the ride! Gulf Breeze Charters has everything you'll need! Highly recommend

Excellent Adventure, highly recommended

This was our FAVORITE excursion in Naples. Paul is fabulous, friendly, patient, and knowledgeable. He slowed and circled many times for the kids (and let’s be real, the adults) to see the dolphin and manatee swimming in the channel. Shell collecting on our private beach (we were literally the only people there) and the beautiful setting sun made this an A+ adventure.

Paul was awesome. Loved the private tour of the waterway. A great stop to walk across the island for some time on the beach. And then ended up in a perfect spot for the sunset!

Captain Craft was very knowledgeable about the area, birds, and dolphins. We had an excellent experience and highly recommend this excursion.

Great trip out on the water. Our guide was knowledgeable about the local wildlife and waterways and really made every effort to ensure we saw as much as possible.

Colleen was amazing!! My sister and I had so much fun shelling and learning so much from Colleen. You could tell that she is passionate about the work that she does. We learned so much about the marine life, mangroves, dolphins, shells (and how to improve our shelling), turtles, and so much more. She even told us about some of the other incredible work she does, which includes seal turtle research and her primary work of cetology. We encountered a few different pods of dolphins on the way back, and it was amazing and intriguing that she could tell them each apart from such a distance. Though shelling was the main reason to go on this trip, I think my favorite part had to be the dolphins! There was a point when a young group of dolphins came to play with us by trailing behind the boat and using the current to swim on their sides, breach the water, and just play! If possible, I would request Colleen!!

Elliott provided the best service, educating us, ensuring our safety, and tailored the trip to meet our expectations…which was all about shelling🤗 Thanks Elliott! We had a great time!

This was such an enjoyable trip to Keewaydin! Tyler, our captain, was so informative and helpful! I opted for the fun fishing for my grandson and it was great! Gabrielle was such a great contact! She was super helpful! I would recommend this for sure and I would do it again!
